A hike in the village was a great start for Shaurya, he surprised us

    November 1, 2020

Movement is important for everyone and at his age, he should be running around which he not doing, he has gained weight which worries us hence the need to get him out and test his ability or probably to test his abilities and likeness. A 4 km walk in the nearby village was an awesome opportunity to expose him to larger schemes of things, we wish to expose him to trekking. This was not difficult but not that easy as well for someone like Shaurya who’s not physically active, but he probably surprised himself. I had a terrible experience of taking him to Deoriatal, the climb was on a horse…

Everyone is helping him but its not helping him

    May 17, 2020

Online classes are a new normal along with so many new normal we see, I am terrible at hating this new normal, I don’t even know if I like it or not and do I have a choice. I am told, online classes are a terrible experience for everyone, not generalizing. I know of kids making the most from it as well, they are born to be brilliant. We were not ready for it, our homes were not ready, our technology was not ready, yet we have to. While gradually people will start accepting and adopt for kids, online classes will become a new normal for autistic kids is a…

The art and the artist , he is getting a feel

    March 1, 2020

The art and the artist , this was made with probably 20% help by his teacher. Sketching of the temple is his own, fine tuning which is mixing colors was the support. He has developed a special connection with Kedarnath Jee since his visit in June last year, always in his memory. The painting took 3 sessions and was expected to be completed on Maha Shivratri but bhai nein beech mein chutee maar dee 😃. Clicking with front face towards camera is so difficult , near to impossible but somehow Shaily managed, this is a rare pic 🙂 Children with autism are no different, they need not adapt to a…

He can read but can’t do interpretation, so what actually he does?

    August 10, 2019

Happy National Book Lovers Day! In a letter to young kids, Alexander Chee writes; ” A book to me is like a friend, a shelter, advice, an argument with someone who cares enough to argue with me for a better answer than the one we both already have. Books aren’t just a door to another world — each book is part of a door to the whole world, a door that always has more behind it. Which is why I still can’t think of anything I’d rather do more than reading.” Read books as much as you can from early days, I have missed reading but making an attempt now.…

He loves the breeze & drizzle on his face

    August 6, 2019

I have been waiting to capture this moment, it such a pleasure to see him experience nature in the purest form. He won’t say a word but will lift his face, feel the small drops of water fall on his charming face and the breeze passing through, touching his innocence. There are feelings he can’t express but he is expressing everything, do we have the ear to listen and eyes to see? . At that moment, you can see the joy on his face, he is happy and delighted, he is contended at that moment. His everyday life experience continues to delight us, so many unspoken words yet so many…

Shaurya has been coping well in the new school and probably better than the last one, I no longer have to deal with morning struggles, always happy to go to school. It may be the environment or the opportunity to play often, he has a flexible schedule, not expected to be in class for a full day. That physical movement must be driving the factor, his teachers appear to be gentle and kind to him. A few days back we went Daryaganj for a stroll, it was humid and he got tired but yet loved the place. His inquisitiveness to look at books puzzled me, what is he looking at? Does…

While he may look asymmetrical to the rest of the world but his world is in perfect symmetry. Shaurya is crazing about movies, he may not watch it completely at times but the whole experience of watching a movie in a perfect setup is his ultimate happiness. He would literally coax me to buy the ticket, open the app and ask to click on book tickets, needs to see ticket as well if I have really done it :). This is the first part of his planning, once that’s done, I have to order Dorritos, Cheese Popcorns, and Pepsi. He has to make the experience perfect, the movie is unwatchable…

    July 28, 2019

Waking up a child on the autism spectrum can be difficult, they have very unique sleep pattern and I know it’s quite normal with all kids these days. He doesn’t like to sleep till late night and somewhere our schedule is also at fault. Either way, we concluded our first week of schooling and with god’s grace, he went to school everyday, waking up at 630 can be extremely challenging for me as well but he has managed it. So what’s driving it, what wake him up? It’s the color of uniform and I can’t be thankful enough to school for an adopting uniform in 2 colors, he has a…

Joy of parenting is eternal bliss so is the in between emotional turmoil

    July 10, 2019

#parenting #autism #blissfull Parenting is difficult and yet enriching and all of us have our own way to manage it, absolutely no formula and that uniqueness is what drives the emotional bonding. I am raising a child with autism and it’s such an eternal bliss, he is so pure that my heart melts with his very smile. He just started a new school and for first 2 days, teachers kept him only for 2 hours to check his adaptability in new environment and on third day, he is fit for full day routine and I am jumping with joy. He is into special school and I hope, with our and…

Manoj comes from a poor family. His father is a Peon in a state electricity board and mother had mostly been a homemaker. He has a younger brother. His father is an alcoholic and had been hostile towards him and his mother. The domestic environment had been extremely stressful. He lives in a narrow-laned colony and goes to a government school for his education. In the same colony just around the corner, there lives a girl named Suman. Suman’s family is big. She lives with her parents and 4 younger siblings in a small house and goes to the same government school. Suman’s father is a petty criminal and is…
