“Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place, and I don’t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward; how much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now, if you know what you’re worth, then go out and get what you’re worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain’t you. You’re better than that! I’m always gonna love you, no matter what. No matter what happens. You’re my son and you’re my blood. You’re the best thing in my life. But until you start believing in yourself, you ain’t gonna have a life.”
The above quote is from Rocky Balboa movie, these are sacred words for me and I keep revisiting them when I am not at my best. It was said by Sylvester Stallone as underdog boxer Rocky Balboa to his son who had doubts. Probably you are thinking, is it relevant for me and what’s the context, none at this stage but strongly relevant for all of us.
So, what keeps you moving, no matter how hard you try to stop, you need to move. You may get inspired by people in office or your personal life, you also derive inspiration from social media posts, especially those luxury holiday pics from your friends, end of the day you need to move ahead, earn more, grow more. Let me tell you something you already know, these inspirations are short-lived, people change, facebook posts will change, the person who used to inspire you will have his failure and trust nobody shares that, so what will you do in this situation. Can you afford to stop ?, no..absolutely not, you need inspiration and that zeal, no one else you can give you…it’s you. You must have it within yourself to grow and that should never die, situations, people and surrounding will always have their ups and downs, you should never stop.
While you take this journey, ensure that it continues to be your journey, no one should interfere in this journey, you should also not get into comparisons of success and failures. A wise man has said, people fail because they compare and not benchmark, they fail because they want feel deprived, always in victim mode. Never ever you do that, you were born to create an identify and no one said you need to live someone’s else life.
Your success is your success, your peers success their success and we must celebrate this overall success but thinking someone else got the success and I didn’t, will push you to brink of failure. You need to write your success story, you need not depend on someone else success or failure to drive what you really want to be!
